Maytec Passes Highest Safety Test!


Maytec has introduced a new line of barrier profiles that exceed the highest standards set for Robotic Guarding. Designed to meet the stringent demands of the European Automotive Industry, this new series of profiles offer unsurpassed safety.

Desgined to handle the impact of a 100kg (220#) load striking the guard in the top 1/3, at an impact velocity of 20 Km/H (12.5 mph), these profiles allow the use of wire mesh or 4mm polycarb. The design gives maximum support to the protective material, while using the high yield strength of Maytec F25 alloy to absorb the impact in the profile.

This series of pictures show the force of the impact and the resilience of the design. Full size panels can be used, providing the maximum viewability of the guarding, while also maximizing the economy of the structure, since less support for the polycaronate or wire mesh is required.

The Design and Build Team
In a venture with a Prestigious Upstate NY University, Trol-Mation designed and built an Exhibit Room for a Nanotechnology Exhibit destined for Epcot Center. The room was over 40' long, 12' wide, and included a fire-rated roof.

In the display, called "Too Small To See", visitors are given a sense of the micro world of NanoTech. Hands on Exhibits allow children to move atoms to create chemical compounds, zoom into look at the atomic structure of a butterfly wing, and see first-hand the vibration of the atoms that gives silicon its unique properties.

Laser Blocking Enclosure

This special enclosure features flat-black powder coated extrusion, black anti-reflective aluminum skinned panels, and an acrylic window specifically designed to block the wavelength of the laser.

Gas shocks hold the enclosure open for easy access.

Tensioning Frame

This unique frame is used to maintain constant tension on a product as it comes off the production line. Hiwin Linear Guideways and a ball screw (not shown) Guide and pull the product as it is made. This frame features 60x60 and 60x90 profiles.

Trol-Mation has recently built several Tape Reel Storage Carts for handling and storage of delicate electronic component reels. The cart was specifically designed to integrate large and small reels and take up a minimum amount of floor space and improve efficiency.

    Guarding at a Major Upstate Manufacturer

    Many times we are called upon to provide environmental guards instead of barriers. This was one such case. The application was to provide an enclosure that contained fumes created through the manufacturing process so they could be vented to a scrubber. This enclosure allowed the product to flow in and out through the openings at each end. The rest of the enclosure kept the fumes inside, creating a safer work environment

    Maytec's unique range of connectors allows you to assemble even the biggest projects in hours, not days. These trusses span 42-56 feet, and are used in all sorts of structural applications.

    Why use Maytec? We offer the largest profiles (80x160, 100x200) and have the strongest cross sections and connector system. When you need to add a lot of extras, like cylinders, sensors, and other items, it is much easier (and cheaper) to slip in a t-nut than to drill and tap a hole.

    These examples of wire mesh guarding highlight the versatility of the Maytec product line. All these guards were designed and built by Trol-Mation.

    Maytec offers the strongest retention system on the market for holdin gwire mesh in place. Some of these examples shown overlapped mesh, to limit the clearance sizes to under 1/4". Our system works with any of our profile families, and has the highest impact ratings in the industry.

    Maytec: Parts Distribution, ease of assembly

    This adjustable chute allows for tilt adjustment and height adjustment. The frame-within-a-frame uses our parallel-square connectors to join 2 pieces of parallel extrusion without the use of clumsy joining plates for quick height adjustment and rock-solid position locking.

    This complex machine base frame and enclosure features a rigid 80x80 base, decorative “soft” profiles on the cover, easily removable panels, and a monitor arm.

    In this Crash Test, a Maytec guard panel is struck with a 100kg load at 20 kph, in the top 1/3 of the panel.

      This wire mesh guarding system was designed and built by Trol-Mation. The design provides for access points through swinging doors at each end, and in the back. Front access comes via a hanging door, sliding on rollers.

      Maytec offers several retaining methods for Wire Mesh, including systems to take impact loads that exceed all current specifications.

      Bifold Doors Provide Plently of Access While Saving Floor Space

      Many times there is not enough room to open a large guard door. The solution? Use a bifolding arrangement, which provides the same access in half the space!

      Centering Table

      In this application we are using electric rodless cylinders and grippers to center a large piece of glass.

      Bin Rack

      Here we use 40x40 clean room extrusion with rollers to build a rack for storage bins. Maytec offers many different profile configurations for aesthetically pleasing appearance.

      Conveyor Cover

      We used 16x80 extrusion and ESD Lexan to make this conveyor cover. Two hinged sections where placed in the center of the guard for easy access to the conveyor below.
